How to Add a Race to Your Training Plan

The two ways to add a race or target event to your Edge plan

Written by Michael Flatman

Have a race coming up that isn't in your current plan? Right now there are two ways to add a target event to your Edge training so we can build your plan around it.

Edge does not yet support adding a race directly from the AI Coach chat or from a "Races" section in your profile. If the AI Coach tells you to go to Profile > Races, that is not correct β€” please follow one of the options below instead.

Two Ways to Add a Race

Option 1: Re-run onboarding to set the race as your goal

The fastest way to add a race is to go back through onboarding and select the race as your training goal. Edge will then build a fresh plan that peaks you for race day, including race-specific workouts and a proper taper.

Use this option if:

  • You want a new plan built specifically around the race

  • Your goals have changed since you first set up your plan

  • You are happy to start a fresh training block

Option 2: Message your coach

If you would prefer to keep your current plan and have the race added in, message our coaching team directly through the in-app support chat. Let us know:

  • The race name and distance (e.g. 10K, half marathon, marathon, HYROX)

  • The race date

  • Your goal for the race (finish, set a PB, target time, etc.)

A coach will adjust your plan so it builds toward your event with the right intensity and taper.

What Happens After You Add a Race

Once your race is added, Edge will:

  • Adjust your weekly training to build toward race day

  • Include race-specific workouts where appropriate

  • Schedule a taper in the final days or weeks before the race so you are fresh on the start line
